The World Health Organisation (WHO) designated 2020 as the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife. The courageous work of nurses and other healthcare workers in the face of the corona virus does honour to the Year of the Nurse and Midwife and the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth. Their value to society has been evident during the crisis.
The Association of Women Educators salutes them. We congratulate nurses and midwives for this designation for the year by WHO. This did not happen by chance. It results from global, sustained advocacy by the professional associations and unions of nurses and midwives.
