Shazia reflects on the ‘princess phenomenon’ in the books available for young girls and the sexist and gendered roles these stories reinforce. Then she writes about a two half-day story writing workshop for young girls to deconstruct gender stereotypes in popular fairytales. They learned the basics of story-writing and then rewrote some of the popular fairytales with strong and positive female lead characters.
